Looking back on this summer, one experience stands out above all: cycling 370 miles from Carlisle to Colchester with my friends Michael and James. It was very a physical challenge.
We took on the ride to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK, inspired by the devastating news that someone Michael knows had been diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer. We knew we wanted to do something meaningful—not just to raise awareness, but to contribute to the fight against it.
The ride itself was tough. Long days in the saddle, scorching heat, and a few minor issues with the bikes along the way. But every mile reminded us why we were doing it. We self-funded the entire journey so that every donation could go directly to the charity, supporting vital research, early diagnosis, and better treatments.
What really carried us through was the support we received. From generous donations to kind messages, it was humbling to see how many people stood behind us. That encouragement made the hardest parts of the ride feel lighter and reminded us that we weren’t doing this alone.
Now that the ride is behind us, I feel proud—not just of the distance we covered, but of the impact we made. It was a powerful reminder of how far friendship, community, and a shared cause can take you.
If you’d still like to support Prostate Cancer UK, our fundraising page is still open.
Thanks,
